Description

Width: 35 centimeters, Height: 38 centimeters, Depth: 35 centimeters

This is a very rare XL version of the Oktav pendant light created by the two Danish architects Niels Esmann & Hans C. Jensen for Nordisk Solar Compagni in 1961. It is made from 11 sheet metal squares held together with thin steel rods. The metal is covered with slightly off white powder coating.

This pendant was made in white, purple, orange and green in a 23 cm tall version and with a small E14 lamp holder. This one however is a 38 cm tall 35 cm wide version with a full size E27 bulb holder that was made in a very small series. In fact this one is the only one to be found for sale over the internet today.

Good condition with some marks and scratches in the lacquer as seen in the photos. Original porcelain E27 light bulb socket.

Height: 38 cm, width 35 cm.

Nordisk Solar was founded in 1919 by Jacob L. Jørgensen and Herluf Sørensen. The company started business as an import and wholesale company of electricity meters. Later they produced radios under the name Audiola. Since the early 1960s “Solar” focused on high-quality lighting.

I try to make the pictures reflect the true look, color and condition of the piece. If you have any questions or want additional photos please send a PM before buying.
