An oval shaped pendant light made from manually folded plastic sheet forming a so called “pearl shade” invented by Danish company Hoyrup in the 1950s. Gives a very soft smooth shine that spreads in all directions.

Good condition with some very light shading only visible when not lit. No cracks or breaks. This lamp has not hung in strong light or exceptionally dry conditions and is not brittle. Rewired electric installation. Standard E27 light bulb socket.

Hoyrup Light was founded by Preben Johan Høyrup in the late 1940s. In 1968, the company became the limited company P.J. Høyrup A/S with Preben as boss. The designer Lars Ejler Schiøler became a co-owner and in 1978. Up through the 1950s, beautiful architectural lamps were produced in antistatic plastic and vacuum formed. A patent was taken for the special cold-shaped plastic dome lamps, the so-called Pearl lamps, which were made in several sizes and colors
