This one is for you heavy patina lovers. The “Albertslund” (some times referred to as the “Orbiter”) pendant light was designed by Danish architect Jens Møller-Jensen in the 1950s and has since been one of Louis Poulsens most famous outdoor lights. It comes as a wall fixture, ceiling fixture and as a pendant light. The pendants are great for indoor industrial style look.
This particular light was installed at the “Folkets Hus” in Nørrebro, central Copenhagen when it was renovated in 1956 and it was rescued from the building when it was demolished in 2007. The original green lacquer is still there but since this light has been mounted outside is flaky and rusty giving it that great rough industrial look. The original glass cup is cleaned up and the electric installation is renovated and a new 1,5 meter textile cable is added.
This light was originally installed attached to the ceiling but the attachments were lost in the demolition. I have added a green metal cup to the top that is not original to the light but fits perfectly making it a sturdy and safe pendant for both indoor and outdoor use.
Standard E27 light bulb socket. A warm good looking LED-light as in the photos is recommended since the actual bulb is visible.
I have several of these lights, all restored but with the original lacquer i various states of decay. If you need more than one light I can offer an affordable bundle price. Contact me or look at the rest of my listings for more info.
Jens Møller-Jensen was born and raised in Copenhagen. In 1955 he obtained his degree in architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. After graduating, Jensen became head of the studio at the Royal Danish Academy, and in 1967 he established his own design office. Over the years, he has come up with many industrial designs, including electronic instruments and televisions for Bang & Olufsen, navigational instruments for SHIPMATE. He has also been involved in the development of an ultra modern train for Danish Railways, “IC3”. His most famous work for Louis Poulsen is the Satellit outdoor luminaire, which has been used for four decades in many places around the world. This lamp also won Jensen the “2000 Danish Classical Design Award”
I try to make the pictures reflect the true look, color and condition of the piece. If you have any questions or want additional photos please send a PM before buying.
